Thematic Workshops for the Development of the Innovation Roadmaps of the Region of Peloponnese

10 Sep 2026

The two Thematic Validation Workshops (Validation Workshops), organized by the Innovation Office of the Region of Peloponnese, were successfully completed on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, focusing on the Agri-Food Chain and on Tourism, Culture and the Creative Industries.

The aim of the workshops was to present and validate the key findings of the studies on the two regional ecosystems, as well as to enrich the proposed Innovation Roadmaps through the knowledge and experience of the participants. The research results were presented, with emphasis on the SWOT analysis and the proposed interventions.

During the workshops, a dialogue developed around the factors that can strengthen innovation and competitiveness in the Peloponnese, the existing obstacles, as well as the potential for enhancing synergies between businesses, the academic and research community, public bodies and society. At the same time, the proposed interventions were examined in terms of their priority and their feasibility for implementation in the coming years.

In the workshop on the Agri-Food Chain, the discussion focused on regional specializations, on markets and value chains with growth potential, on the needs of producers and businesses, and on priorities for investment and collaboration, aiming to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness. Similarly, in the workshop on Tourism, Culture and the Creative Industries, the discussion focused on the value chains linking tourism with culture, contemporary creation and technology, on the potential for developing new products, services and collaborations, as well as on interventions to strengthen the outward orientation, sustainability and competitiveness of the regional ecosystem.

The results of the two workshops will be used for the further enrichment of the respective studies and the Innovation Roadmaps, so that the final directions incorporate the needs of the ecosystem’s stakeholders and lead to clear policy proposals and priorities for interventions.

Each workshop was attended by at least 20 representatives of businesses, production and institutional bodies, the academic and research community, and other organizations of the regional ecosystem, contributing with their input and proposals to the validation and enrichment of the two Innovation Roadmaps.

The workshops are implemented within the framework of the Action “Support actions for entrepreneurial discovery through the collaboration of Regional Business and Research Organizations (Innovation Office)”, with MIS code 6011212. The Action is part of the “Peloponnese 2021–2027” Programme and is co-financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund) and national resources through the Public Investment Programme. The Contracting Authority is the University of the Peloponnese.
